I got to gym today. It was a bloody hassle. But I got here. It was my first and likely only session this week. But I got here. Teddy refused to eat breakfast, be buckled into his car seat, get into his pram or be dropped off at creche without tears. But I got here. And despite the stressful journey to get here, I'm so glad I did it. Because at the end of the day, my ultimate goal is to keep up with my boy. And the only way I'm going to achieve that is by showing up. So... I got here. Toddler tantrums, tears and all. And that's a bloody good achievement in my books! 💪👑 . . . . . Weight loss journey update: SW: 87kg post-partum CW: 75kg This weeks goal: to get to gym at least once (keeping it real) ✅ DONE

Happy 2nd Birthday to my one and only. The one that sends me crazy. That keeps me up at night. That regularly demands Wiggles, because...Wiggles. The one that has no idea of personal space. That decides to poo at inconvenient times. That loves to pull toys out of cupboards instantly after they have been put away. The one that's discovered the art of tantruming. The one that loves to sing ABC and twinkle twinkle little star, without mixing the words up. The one that gives incredible kisses, occasionally followed by a face slap. The one that counts to 10 and congratulates himself at the end. The one that stole my heart, two years ago today, and made me realize what true love really meant. . . To my high school bullies. Are you happy in your life? Right now? I sometimes wonder if you weren't so happy at school. If perhaps your life was allot tougher than it appeared on the outside. Which is why you took it out on us. The so called losers. The chubby ones. The quirky ones. The weird ones. The different ones. I sometimes wonder if we weren't so different after all. I wonder if we all had hidden struggles. If we all had hard days. I wonder if we all had to fight for our place in this world. . You see, those moments that you isolated me. That you excluded me. That you called me names or talked behind my back. Those moments didn't define me. But they did give me something. Those moments gave me strength. For I had to learn to be tenacious and self reliant. Those moments gave me appreciation. For the friendships I did fordge and still have today. Those moments gave me empathy. Not just for those who were also bullied, but for you too. For I often wonder if we both cried the same amount of tears at high school. But you simply hid yours better. Behind beauty. Behind popularity. Behind beautiful boyfriends. Behind your perfection. . I remember wishing I was you. Or at least like you. To fit in. To be wanted. To be admired. To be beautiful. What I didn't know at the time was this is a journey. And soon enough, in it's own time, I would have all those things. And more. I'm still very much on this journey. As I'm sure you are too. Isn't funny that as adults we most likely will meet at the same cross roads. Face the same adversities and challenges. Celebrate the same triumphs and successes. In our own unquiue way. And all that time spent in resentment and anguish at high school still lead us here. To this exact point in time. Where I stand here before you, happy. Successfull. Beautiful. And very much loved. . So my question to you is, are you happy? Right now? Because with everything I'm sure we now have in common, and everything we have both journeyed through, I can honestly and sincerely say, I hope you are.

T O D A Y we celebrated 2 years of survival in Parenthood. Oh, and Teddy's 2nd birthday! It was a day of cake, cheezles, Frozen, pouring rain, extreme humidity, a cheeky wine for mum and Connor McGregor attempting to upstage Teddy. McGregor had no chance! . Cheers to 2 years as this awesome threesome!🥂🎉

So yesterday I did a thing. I booked an extra daycare day. Not because of work. Or a doctors appointment. Or for other parent life responsibilities. I booked it just me. A day to take care of me. I got my hair done. I got a pedicure. I went make-up shopping for the first time in years. I ate lunch by myself. Uninterrupted. And it felt SO good. I know I get so caught up in our busy routine. Work, daycare, play centers, activities, toddler tantrums, an overworked husband, groceries, dinner, scrubbing toilets, interrupted sleep and just trying to stop my house from imploding in general. This mum gig can get very busy and very VERY tough. So I took a damn day. Just. For. Me. . . And at the end of the day, as I picked up Teddy from daycare and popped him into the car seat; the epic refusal to be buckled in, whilst slapping mum in the head with an empty drink bottle reminded me that I made a good choice. . . . ...and yes, I took a damn car selfie! 🙌 👑 #selfcaredontcare #mumgoals #treatyoself #ordinarymumclub

Flashback to when travelling with Teddy was not an extreme sport! This was us in Hawaii for my sister's wedding in 2018. I thought travelling with an almost 7 month old would be tough. But when they don't crawl or refuse food or throw tantrums, it's honestly the BEST time to do these big trips. Because... toddlers suck. D A T E N I G H T // It's something I never thought we would need, and certainly something I never thought would be SO important. It takes military strategic planning to pull it off, but damn is it good when we do. Just a few uninterrupted hours where we promise not to talk about our kid, but ultimately that's a lie. What we can do, however, is switch off, actually look at each other and dare I say it... remember why we became parents in the first place! Also, calories don't count on date night. Everytime I come on here, there are people and pages trying to tell me how better my life. How to be a calm parent. How to detox my life. How to be successful. How to de-clutter. How to get fit. How to lose weight. How to raise my child. How to be a better friend, wife, mum. . But what if we don't actually need all that? What if we don't need to detox, or be calm, or de-clutter, or be successful, or be uber fit? Because that, excuse my language, is f#cking exhausting! What if this shit storm we call life is already better enough. . I'm all for growth and discovery. But we find these naturally and in our own time. No "how to", no guru, no program, and certainly no product will give us this. And if your house is trashed, your jeans don't quite fit, and you haven't texted your best friend back in weeks... you're still killing it! #ordinarymumclub 👑
